Although the office is very small, it was designed to encourage a sequence of
experiences or moods conducive to the therapeutic process.
One enters the office from a well
lit entry porch with a translucent ceiling. Inside the cozy waiting
area behind a privacy screen gives patients
a place to gather themselves before their
session.Focused light enters this area through a small window to the side and through a
skylight above. The third space, the consulting room, is
entered by passing through a deep, protective
wall with a bookshelf. This room is bright and open to the beautiful
conservation land it overlooks. The open visual connection to the surrounding
landscape is intended to encourage the imagination and free flow of ideas from
the patient. Throughout the office exposed natural materials and clean, simple
lines are used to create an uncluttered environment free from distractions.
