Modern House with Kitchen Design :  Concord, Massachusetts  Modern house renovation and addition

The addition to this modern house includes a new large living and dining room and the transformation of the former living room into a new large kitchen The kitchen design is configured as the center for the family's interactions.  The new living/dining room is designed to be both spacious and cozy and is defined by the roof that covers the mass of the new space. The way this addition is sunk into a sloped site and covered with a hip roof minimizes the exposed building mass  to emphasize the house’s connection with the surrounding landscape.

Intricate wood detailing is used to visually connect a new expansive living and dining room to the existing modern house. The kitchen design includes a large plant window sill next to the main counter to make the results of the owners' green thumb a visual focus seen frequently.
