House Floor Plan:  Medfield, MA Home addition and home remodeling

Working with the existing house floor plan, the home addition was designed with skylights, cathedral ceilings, and interior windows to enliven the experience of moving through spaces. Interior windows frame unique views between floors.  Certain spaces are composed so that a single skylight brings daylight down to multiple rooms.

The home remodeling of the 1 1/2" story cottage with gabled roof was enhanced with an additional floor and new peaked roof on top of the existing structure.  A glazed breezeway and deck connecting the future addition to the new house continues the interplay between inhabited space and inhabitable adjacent spaces that are seen but not directly accessed. The massing and curved roof form of the future addition reflects rural architecture vernacular. Exposed Wood trusses used as structural members contribute further to the dynamism of the house.
