Affordable
Housing: Thanks to the initiative of LINC, the Lynn Community Development
Corporation not only provides
much needed affordable housing, but also helps revitalize downtown Lynn. This
partially abandoned historic building was destined to be replaced by a
parking lot.
The building was renovated with green strategies and has received an Energy
Star rating.
This single room occupancy building with commercial space on the ground floor
was redesigned to house three commercial spaces and two accessible apartments on
the ground floor. The second and third floor are converted to family units: four
townhouses and two flats all accessed via a common porch. This
brick building was originally constructed with elegant details, but having stood
empty for many years the second and third floors had gone into disrepair. With this
conversion, this historic building was saved from demolition and eight
households live in a quality building that is affordable.
This project was approved by
the City Council and Board of Appeals.
