Traditional Kitchen / Family Room & Bath / Master Bedroom Suite:  Brookline, MA

This Kitchen was renovated and expanded with old porch transformed to a breakfast area to create a light and spacious family space. We also redesigned the Master bedroom and its expanded bath. Throughout we used traditional details to match with the house and enhance its elegance.

Interior Architecture Design:  Cambridge, MA

The challenge in  this interior architecture design was to make these small rooms feel more spacious. We took space from the attic to create a hip ceiling in the master bedroom. Light from a light well with a skylight brightens a very tight dressing room. This light is reflected in mirrored doors and makes this tiny space feel more roomy. At night this space is brightened with light fixtures concealed in a trove in the light well.

House Floor Plan:  Medfield, MA Home addition and home remodeling

Working with the existing house floor plan, the home addition was designed with skylights, cathedral ceilings, and interior windows to enliven the experience of moving through spaces. Interior windows frame unique views between floors.  Certain spaces are composed so that a single skylight brings daylight down to multiple rooms.  The home remodeling of the 1 1/2" story cottage with gabled roof was enhanced with an additional floor and new peaked roof on top of the existing structure.  A glazed breezeway and deck connecting the future addition to the new house continues the interplay between inhabited space and inhabitable adjacent spaces that are seen but not directly accessed. The massing and curved roof form of the future addition reflects rural architecture vernacular. Exposed Wood trusses used as structural members contribute further to the dynamism of the house.

Bathroom Renovation:  Cambridge, MA

Renovation to bathroom (before picture left). Minimalist detail, granite tile, glass doors  and a sink sculpture transformed this to an elegant bathroom.

Stairs:  Arlington, Massachusetts

The second floor addition to this house had to be connected to very disconnected existing parts of the house. The play full arrangement of the stairs direct you to the kitchen and dining room off the stair landing from both the first floor living room and the new second floor rooms. Spacious rooms are created by bringing the ceiling to the underside of the roof and by using lofts over service space to visually increase the size of the spaces. The height of the rooms allow to take advantage of solar energy with solar siphon panels.
